Edgar
Bennett (Nashville, Georgia) Edgar
Bennett married Betty Boykin, my first cousin twice
removed. In his eighties now, he continues to make
excellent cane-syrup/corn-syrup blend, and autumn would
not be the same without a bottle.

Slides
1
and 2
are views of a Kentucky Cane Mill Co. No.1

Slide
3 is the kettle. Note the rim that Edgar built into his
furnace. This rim (in addition to the normal rim [upper
left] that fits at the kettle flange) is slanted back
toward the kettle and provides some protection against
boil-over. The upper left also shows a trough covered with
a cloth filter.
