Construction of the Agricultural Storage Building
This story is better rendered as a (partial) flashback. I will therefore begin this narrative from the middle, after the foundation-and-erection contractor was "finished." These first five images were taken on February 8th, 2008. I mailed the contractor the second and final draw on January 14th, 2008, without a final inspection because I had invested all the time in the contractor that I could, and he had said the said about my project. They did some work on January 15th. Of course, this time contrasts rather starkly with the original oral agreement to complete the foundation before Thanksgiving and erect the building the week after. |

Installation of Power Service to Building |

The first series of images document the installation of the meter base by the building. I positioned the meter base in front of the building to facilitate reading the meter remotely, but put the transformer behind the building for esthetics. (Although it would have looked better to mount the meter base on the building, I opted for a separate installation to avoid penetrating the building.) I built the stand for the meter base (provided by EMC, the electrical provider) in Tallahassee and installed it on March 11, 2008 (FSU's Spring Break week). It was rather miserable work, digging below the water table. In brief, the power runs from the transformer to the meter (which is grounded), thence to the load center for distribution to the circuits in the building. The load center is over-sized for the building, and I will pull 100-125 amps out through a breaker for a modest residence that is in the planning. |

The next series of images document the location of the electrical lines (so as to avoid them with future wall penetrations). Since it is artificial to have separate documentation for stud location and plumbing vents, this series serves a triple purpose. (The first five images were taken before the electrical was installed.) | |
