Baby Kate's Savannah Shower

Attended by Elizabeth's AASU Associates in Savannah, Georgia, September 28th, 2013

Nedra and I were pleased to be included in this baby shower honoring Elizabeth. We felt the warmth of her many friends about whom we had heard Elizabeth affectionately speak. For grandparents-to-be, as for Elizabeth and John, this was a momentous occasion, and we share the essence in this photoessay.

We begin with images that capture generosity, viz. of the hostess herself standing behind the buffet and of party gifts. Next, we portray the joyous mood of the event by displaying images of individuals. Elizabeth had several connections with many of these people--e.g., Jordan and her spouse helped Elizabeth and John move--but for brevity and focus, only the AASU (Armstrong Atlantic State University) relationship with Elizabeth when she was an Assistant Professor there will be noted. Finally, the essay closes with images of Elizabeth opening gifts, again to emphasize generosity, and then one of her mother, and, of course, the bear cake.

Above, right: The bear cake, closing again on the theme of generosity. The cake was made by a friend of Regina. Said differently, a stranger made this masterpiece for little Kate. The cake has been stored and will be served first to Kate on her first birthday.
